Mini Golf League
Our Mini Golf Putting League is going to start in the New Year. We will be starting to take team entries next week for what should be a great fun competition. Teams are made up of 4 players, but there is flexibility to substitute players if someone can't make it on a particular week.
The cost will be £3 per person each week and includes a coffee/hot chocolate to keep you warm. We'll be posting on facebook when entries go live. If you'd like an entry form emailed over, then just send us a quick email info@noahsarkgolf.com

So here are my numbers…
If you read last week's newsletter, you will be aware that I have decided to start working on my game this winter and try to get my club head speed back up to an acceptable level for a club pro! Back in the mid 1990's when I was a full time playing professional, my driver club head speed was around 110mph.
Now 20 years on, although I don't expect my speed to get up to its previous best, I'd like to be able to get up to 102-104mph consistently. As you will see by the image below, which I took in my first practice session yesterday, I've got a bit of work to do!
I am going to continue to hit a basket of balls each day I'm at the 'Ark' over the winter and let's see how much I can increase my speed and distance by.
Long Drive Competition
My team of Andrew, Jonny and Ross along with Scottish Internationalist Danny Young, decided to have a long drive competition yesterday (Anonymously!). You will see by the numbers that there's a fair difference between them! Let's see if you can guess who is who? There's a sleeve of Srixon AD333 for everyone who correctly matches up who's who.
So, you've got,
Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse
And
Andrew McHardy, Jonny Belford, Danny Young and Ross McDonald

Play Better Golf - Turn through it
Today I will show you an exercise that will help you rotate your body better through impact. Poor rotation through the hitting area causes your clubface aim to be very inconsistent, and can make your shots look like a Red Arrows display!
Firstly, set your ball on a low tee and make your address position. You should now swing back to around chest high, ensuring that you rotate your shoulders and arms together. From this position I now want you to swing through to chest high, making sure that you really fire your body, passing impact where your weight has shifted onto your left leg.
If your body moves well through impact, then you should find that by the time your club reaches chest height on the follow through that your body is pointing at your target. This exercise will help keep your hands and body moving together and create a more consistent clubface at impact.
If you try to hit the ball with your hands then you will either hit the ground before the ball or you will spray the balls wildly left and right. This can be a tricky exercise to master but will really help your game.
Junior Coaching
We are running a four-week block of junior coaching starting Saturday, 14 November. There will be two sessions, with the 6-10yr olds from 10-11am and the 11+ yrs from 11-12noon. You'll work on all aspects of your game in a fun and friendly atmosphere, with lots of games and challenges.
The cost of the block is £28 or £8 per session if paid weekly. If you pay for the whole block, you will also receive a card offering you a free basket of 50 balls every time you come to the driving range between sessions. For more information, or to book your place give us a call on 01738 440678 or email info@noahsarkgolf.com.
Play Better Golf - Get your shoulders turning
This week I'm going to show you a great drill to help get your shoulders turning on the backswing and help you rid yourself of that annoying slice.
With a mid-iron in hand, get into your set up position and then draw your right foot back so that the toe is roughly level with you left heel. This adjustment will also slightly close the alignment of your shoulders. By setting up in this way, it will allow you much more freedom for your shoulders to turn on the backswing. It is however very important that you pivot centrally on the backswing and do not sway to the right.
When you reach the top of the backswing, the position may appear a little flat, but this is simply due to the right foot and shoulder positioning at address and is exactly what we're looking for.
Contrary to previous beliefs, if you are a slicer of the golf ball, then a slightly flat backswing is actually your friend. This position will make it much easier for you to attack the ball from an inside path on the downswing, creating an inside to out path and hopefully the desired draw ball flight.
The more your swing path moves to the inside then the easier you will find it to make a complete follow through. Hopefully with a little practice, you will start to see some lovely baby draws fighting down the fairway.
