What a great US PGA that was! There was some fantastic golf played and I am so happy that Jason Day managed to finally get across the finish line and win his first Major. Day has been knocking at the door for several years and unlike Dustin Johnson, who has thrown away his chances, Day has just been unfortunate that someone else has played out their skin to beat him.
Jason has been in contention at 3 of this year's 4 Majors and didn't look like giving up his lead last week. On finishing second, Jordan Spieth stated that it was the easiest loss he has ever had as Day was playing so well, that he say no way of beating him. The fact that Spieth walked away with the world #1 spot probably softened the blow too!

Play Better Golf - Drive it like Day
What a great and well deserved win for Jason Day at last week's US PGA Championship. Day has been knocking at the door of Major success for several years now and has had many close calls for his first Major, including this year's US Open and Open Championship.
Day won the USPGA with a record score of 20 under par and his impressive long and straight driving has been the talk of the tour. Day's long high drives come from a well-connected backswing and an upward attack angle. Today I'll show you how to drive it like Jason!
First, you'll need to widen your stance a little, providing a more stable base, place the ball forwards opposite your left foot and make sure that your left shoulder sits higher than your right. On your backswing concentrate on making a full shoulder turn, ensuring you turn your shoulders and arms in time to help create a wide arc to your swing.
To maximise your distance off the tee, you must focus on striking up on the ball and making a complete follow though. This upward attack angle will launch the ball higher with reduced backspin making your ball carry further and run more on landing.
When you follow through correctly you will find that your weight ends up fully on your left foot with the sole of your right shoe pointing away from the target and your club all the way round behind your head.
Don't be shy the give it a whack with the driver. If you are going to swing softly with a driver in an effort to hit straight, then you might as well hit a 3 wood!
Drainage Works
We have some drainage works planned on the golf course week commencing 31st August. The works will take 5 days and during this time the course will be down to 10 holes as due to health and safety reasons, the back end of the course will need to be closed whilst the works are completed. For more information please click here.
Volunteer Day
We have a volunteer day organised for Wednesday, 2 September from 10am-1pm. We are planning to sand down and paint the fence that surrounds the putting green. The fence is looking a bit tired and a lick of paint will really help to improve the first impression for golfers visiting the course.
For more information, please click here. Anyone can come along and volunteer and we'll also pay you in golf. For every 3 hours volunteer time you give us, we'll give you a free round of golf.
Great Season Ticket Deals
We've just launched our August Season Ticket promotion, which will allow you to play unlimited golf through until 31st March 2016. The course is looking great and with a season ticket you can really take advantage and get out on the course as much as possible. For more information, visit our website by clicking here.
