Make your practice effective
We'd all like to play better golf and can get frustrated at the lack of time that we get to spend working on our game. With work, family and other distractions, it's essential that whatever time we do have to practice is used as effectively as possible. Below are my three golden rules to getting the most out of your range sessions.
1. Take your time on every single shot. Go through your pre shot routine and give 100% focus.
2. At least 1 in every 3 range sessions should be spent with your wedges only.
3. Be target focused and create scoring games, where you can track your range performance.
Stop aimlessly beating balls and start maximising your potential. It's time to get that handicap tumbling down.

In the video here, Niall will help you get rid of that annoying slice without making any major changes to your swing.
In fact, a very simple adjustment at address, may be all that is required to straighten up your ball flight. Click here or on the image to see the video.

Play Better Golf - The Straight Left Arm
This week's swing tip is an old one, but something that is still very important and relevant in the modern golf swing.
When you watch a top player, you will notice how straight their left arms remain on their backswings, regardless of whether they have short or long backswings. A straight left arm helps create both power and accuracy as it maintains swing width and improves body and arm connection.
At address position your left arm should be comfortably straight without too much grip pressure. You should now turn your shoulders and arms in sync to the top of the backswing when you will reach a point that you cannot turn any more, this is your trigger to start the downswing.
There are two main causes of your left arm bending on the backswing.
(1) If you swing your arms quicker than your shoulders this will cause your left arm to fold and (2) if you continue to swing your arms after your shoulders stop turning, this will also cause your left arm to bend. Both of these moves will cause you to lose power and control.
With a bit of practice you will master this move and hopefully see your scores come tumbling down.
