Play Better Golf - Turn those hips

Today I will show you a great exercise that will help you rotate your hips better through impact. If you can learn to keep your body rotating through this, the most important area of the swing then you will see dramatic improvements in your game, producing more powerful AND accurate shots.

Firstly set your ball on a low tee and make your address position, holding the club in your right hand only. With your left hand you should grab hold of your waist band or right trouser pocket. You should now swing to the top of your backswing. From this position I want you to initiate the down swing by pulling your hips through with your left hand. This will really help you drive and clear your hips into impact and then all the way to a full finish.

This exercise will help your body and arms work as one unit through impact, creating a more passive clubface as the ball is struck.

At first this exercise is tricky and if you try to use your right hand to hit rather then pull your hips you will likely strike the ground before the ball or top it. Stick with it though, as it really does help.

9 Hole 'Sprint' Stableford - Saturday, 30 May

Come and join us for our first 9 hole Sprint Stableford at 7.30am on Saturday, 30 May. This is the first of several 9 hole competitions that we are going to hold, in an effort to allow those of you with limited free time, the opportunity to play some golf.

Our nine hole stableford will be over the following holes, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 14th, 15th, 17th & 18th with a Par of 35.

The cost will be free for Season Ticket holders and a £10, nine hole Green fee will be payable by non season ticket holders. The sprint events are no place for slow play and we're setting a 1.5 hr time target for every group. This way you can play 9 holes and be back home in time for breakfast!
