A golf lesson at Noah's Ark could seriously improve your golf!

It's well known amongst my Noah's Ark friends, that I like a gadget. As such, I have always made sure that we've got the latest kit available when it comes to coaching you to a better golf game. Today I'd like to talk a little about two of our most used technologies, FlightScope and V1 Video. Let's start with my best friend FlightScope!

Since investing in FlightScope in 2011, it has completely transformed my coaching business. After more than 20 years of coaching, I have found that combining its technology with my knowledge of the golf swing, I have been able to improve player's games much more effectively than ever before.

FlightScope is a very high tech and detailed piece of equipment, but this does not mean that it will over complicate the instruction given. If anything, I have found that my coaching has become simpler, as I'm more often asking a player to work on feelings and I'll monitor what changes these feelings make to the ball flight.

When I combine FlightScope with our V1 digital video system, then we really are at the forefront of golf coaching. Video has been used in golf coaching for many years now, but our V1 digital system takes it to another lesson. Our high speed video camera allows us to take video footage at 300 frames per second, before loading into our analysis system where we can compare a players swing against a model pro or against a previous version of their own swing.

Whilst all this is happening, V1 is recording a video clip of it all, including my voice over. By the time a student gets home after his session, he will have been emailed his very own personalised video of his lesson. This gives a player a great chance to let everything sink in by watching the video over. Future sessions can show how a players swing progresses and can really help to build confidence in a student.

Play Better Golf - Heel your swing

One of the most common faults I see during my coaching is players struggling to get fully through the ball and as a result they get trapped at impact position making it difficult to complete their swing. This problem occurs when your weight remains on your right foot on the down swing preventing your body from rotating to target and as a result forces your hands to hit at the ball.

Today's exercise should really help you get through the ball to a complete finish and create more width on the follow through.

At address position lift your right heel off the ground but keep your weight evenly distributed. Now swing to the top of your backswing keeping your weight fairly central but making sure that your right heel remains off the ground. As you start your downswing you should now find it much easier to get your body cleared on the way through as your right foot is already well on its way.

You should find that when your swing is finished all of your weight has now transferred onto your left foot. This drill will really help your transition from backswing to downswing and will allow you to really unload your power onto the golf ball.

9 Hole 'Sprint' Stableford - Saturday, 30 May

Come and join us for our first 9 hole Sprint Stableford at 7.30am on Saturday, 30 May. This is the first of several 9 hole competitions that we are going to hold, in an effort to allow those of you with limited free time, the opportunity to play some golf.

Our 9 hole stableford will be over the following holes, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 14th, 15th, 17th & 18th with a Par of 35.

The cost will be free for Season Ticket holders and a £10, 9 hole Green fee will be payable by non season ticket holders. The sprint events are no place for slow play and we're setting a 1.5 hr time target for every group. This way you can play 9 holes and be back home in time for breakfast!

We've currently got a few job opportunities at the golf centre.

Driving Range Assistant's

We've got opportunities for two driving range assistants who's job will be to collect and wash golf balls from the driving range. Each position is for 2 nights per week, approx. 4.5hrs per shift and 9 hrs per week. This position would suit someone at school looking for a part time job (minimum 17yrs).

Grounds man

We're looking for a part time seasonal grounds person, to help cut the grass on our driving range and other areas. The post will run from May till mid October and will be two mornings per week 7am - 11am, 8hrs per week.
