Now that the dust has finally settled on the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, the memory of Team Europe's fantastic win can live with you forever by getting your hands on your very own piece of Ryder Cup memorabilia.

Up for auction will be Ryder Cup street dressing items, such as flags, posters, banners that were hung from lamp posts and road-side signs. These were used to decorate the local area and present a smart and warm welcome to visitors in September last year when The 2014 Ryder Cup took place at the Gleneagles Hotel and the Junior Ryder Cup was hosted by Blairgowrie Golf Club.

All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the two official local Ryder Cup charities: Perth & Kinross Disability Sports and Friends of St Margaret's Hospital in Auchterarder.

As reported in last week's newsletter, Noah's Ark's Andrew McHardy has qualified for next week's Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles. This is the Tartan Tour's premier event and will be played over the King's Course starting Sunday, through till Wednesday.

If you've got some spare time, please head out to the Glen and lend Andrew your support. He's been hitting the ball well, so fingers crossed for a good tournament.

As the Golf Course where it all began in Perthshire back in the 15th century, we felt it was really important that we got involved in National Golf Month.

As such, we'll be holding a few events throughout May, in an effort to help grow the game of golf in Perthshire and on North Inch Golf Course.

Open Day - Sunday, 10 May

Our Open Day will be a great opportunity for golfers to come and play at North Inch. Whether you're looking to join a club, would like to find a great value course to play green fee golf, or would just like to try the Inch again after a long break, then this day is for you.

Tee times will be available from 9am till 12 noon for full course bookings, then from 12-1pm we'll be taking bookings on our new 6 hole 'Wee Course'.

The Wee course will be perfect for families and young children to play, with the 6 holes being created from the first 3 holes of the main course. The longest hole will be 230 yards and the shortest 95 yards.

4-Man Team Texas Scramble - Sunday, 17 May

On Sunday, 17 May, we'll be holding the first of many FUN days at North Inch Golf Course. The format for the day will be 4-Man Team Texas Scramble, which is a great format to get out on the course, play aggressive golf and have some great fun.

The cost for the Team will be Free for members and only £5 for visitors. Teams can be made up of members, visitors or can be mixed. Members can book their times via the Online Booking System and visitors can book by calling the starters box on 01738 636481 or emailing northinchgolf@pkc.gov.uk

Play Better Golf - Drive it longer

If you would like to add some yards to your drives then this week's article is for you. When hitting a driver, there are a couple of adjustments that you must make to your set up, so as to increase your chances of maximising your distance off the tee. You should widen your stance a little, providing a more stable base, place the ball forwards opposite your left foot and make sure that your left shoulder sits higher than your right.

On your backswing concentrate on making a full shoulder turn, and ensure that your head does not sway to the right. To maximise your distance off the tee, you must focus on striking up on the ball and making a complete follow though. This upward attack angle will launch the ball higher with reduced backspin making your ball carry further and run more on landing.

When you follow through correctly you will find that your weight ends up fully on your left foot with the sole of your right shoe pointing away from the target and your club all the way round behind your head.

Don't be shy the give it a whack with the driver, even if you are a bit offline you will be hitting a shorter iron to the green and on average you will score better. If you are going to swing softly with a driver in an effort to hit straight, then you might as well hit a 3 wood!

Driving Range Assistant's

We've got opportunities for two driving range assistants who's job will be to collect and wash golf balls from the driving range. Each position is for 2 nights per week, approx. 4.5hrs per shift and 9 hrs per week. This position would suit someone at school looking for a part time job (minimum 17yrs).

Grounds man

We're looking for a part time seasonal grounds person, to help cut the grass on our driving range and other areas. The post will run from May till mid October and will be two mornings per week 7am - 11am, 8hrs per week.

Seasonal Retail Assistant

We're looking for a part time seasonal shop assistant from mid May until mid September. Duties will include, retail sales, placing orders, booking lessons and custom fit appointments, stock control, merchandising, cleaning and customer relations. The position would suit a student looking for a summer job and it's important that you both play golf and have a good knowledge of the sport, so as to be able to comfortably talk to customers.
