Get Your Game in Shape for the New Season

At Noah's Ark Golf Centre, we've got a team of 3 coaches on hand to help you with your game. Andrew, Jonny and I have over 40 years of coaching experience between us and we've worked with all level of players from complete beginners to playing professionals.

If you'd like to put some work in on your game in the run up to the new season then get in touch and we can help make 2015 your best ever golf season.

More information on our coaching packages can be found on our website by clicking here. Along with our individual golf lessons, we also run many classes throughout the year, below are some of our current and upcoming classes.

Pre Season Classes

Our popular Pre-season night classes are going to start on Wednesday, 25th February. We're offering classes for both the beginner golfer and for the existing player, who'd like to improve their game. The classes last for 1 hour and will run for a 6 week period, taking you up to the start of the new golf season.

The classes offer great value for money at just £65 per person and this includes all your range balls and the use of any golf clubs if required. We keep our classes to a maximum of 8 golfers to 1 Coach, and this means that you will get plenty of coach time in order to work on your game.

Places are limited, so if you'd like to book yourself in, then please just give us a call on 01738 440678 or click here.

Gent's Coaching Class

If you're free on a Tuesday morning, then our Gent's class is a great way to work on your game. Held every Tuesday morning 10.30-11.30am, you'll get some coaching from Andrew, 100 range balls and a coffee after, all for just £8.

This is a great value way to improve your game and if you'd like more information then give us a call on 01738 440678.

Ladies' Coaching

Our Thursday morning ladies class is having a schedule change and will be moving to a Monday afternoon 1.30pm - 2.30pm starting Monday, 2nd March. We're starting to take names, so there are any ladies out there who'd like to work on their game, then give us a call on 01738 440678.

Driving Range

For the month of February, we're offering all new driving range members their first month free, which is a saving of £19.99. If you'd like to play your best in 2015 and start working on your game, then come and speak to one of our team at Noah's Ark.

Lower Your Scores

Over the next few weeks, there will be some big changes happening with our website. Our plan is to turn it into a hub where you can go to find information on how to improve your game. Initially this will be based around swing instruction and statistics, but in time will include information on effective practice, fitness and dietry improvement.

If you really want to improve your game, then you need to record your statistics. Without knowing where you game is currently at, you have now way of knowing if you are improving.

As a coach I need to know exactly where you are losing shots on the course and it is very seldom in the areas that a player perceives there to be a problem.

To sign up for your free account on LowerYourScores, just head on over to our website and sign up. It only takes a minute and is completely free. Click here to sign up.

Dates are now set for the first 3 of this years fitting days. We've got PING, Callaway and Titleist in the diary and are just waiting on final confirmation from TaylorMade.

PING

We're hosting a PING fitting day on Tuesday, 3rd March between 3 and 7pm. You'll be able to get fitted for the very latest PING G30 clubs, which have proven a great hit since their launch in September. If you'd like to book your free 30 minute fitting appointment at our PING event, then please call the golf centre on 01738 440678.

Callaway

We're hosting one of the first launch days for the eagerly anticipated Callaway XR range. When we tried the XR clubs back in December, we were all really impressed, these things are both easy to hit and are seriously long. Our Callaway fitting event will be between 3-7pm on Tuesday, 10th March. You can book your free 30 minute fitting appointment by calling the golf centre on 01738 440678. Places are limited, so don't hesitate to give us a call.

Titleist

I've also just secured a Titleist 'Trial' day on Tuesday, 14th April. This event won't require any booking; you can simply roll up and give the clubs a try. The new range of Titleist clubs are their most forgiving ever and the guys at Titleist are really keen to get the clubs into that hands of players who may not have normally tried them.

I'll give you more details on the event nearer the time.

North Inch Golf Course Update

It's been another busy week at North Inch Golf Course.

The new tees have now both been laid at the 4th and 16th, with just some natural turf to go down once the weather warms up a bit. There has been some tree work getting done too.

The tree to the left of the 4th green, that was felled a few weeks back, has now been removed, as has the fallen tree at the 11th and also the one at the brow of the 7th fairway.

There was around 100 tonnes of silt and growth removed from the ditch at the 11th, 12th & 13th.

This has been temporarily sited in a fenced off area near the 13th tee and will be removed shortly once it has dried out.

If you run a golf society through your work or social group, then I'd be really keen to speak with you. As part of our plans to grow the usage of North Inch Golf Course we're keen to attract more societies to start playing their competitions on our course.

We can offer you a special green fee rate and can also offer you guaranteed tee time. If this is you and you'd like to have a chat, then please email me on nmcgill@pkc.gov.uk or call 01738 476372

Live Active Leisure

I've been having some good meetings with Live Active Leisure about forging closer ties with Café Active at Bell's Sports Centre. The café is in a perfect location for the golf course and I'm keen to find a way that we can work together.

I'm going to be putting together some group packages where we can offer a round of golf followed by a high tea, along with other deals.

Our mission is to make North Inch Golf Course the friendliest, most affordable and accessible golf course in Perth & Kinross, for the people of Perth & Kinross.

If you'd like more information on North Inch Golf Course, please drop me an email at nmcgill@pkc.gov.uk

Draw your ball

This week's practice plan is designed to help you hit a controlled draw with your shots.

To hit a draw round an obstruction, your clubface must aim just right of the obstruction (where you want ball to start), then you must make sure that you swing more to the right than the face points. This swing path to club face relationship will create the required curve on your golf ball.

You can achieve the desired swing path by either swinging to the right or aligning to the right (a combination tends to be best). The clubface controls initial direction that the ball travels and swing path creates the curve, which is the opposite way to previous beliefs.

Take a few minutes to warm up, and then select 3 irons from your set (1 short, 1 medium & 1 long). This plan is based upon a basket of 50 balls.

- 8 balls - Hit 3 balls with each of your irons, working from shortest to longest to complete your warm up.

- 33 balls - Broken down into 11 groups of 3 balls. Pick out an imaginary obstruction and try to manoeuvre your ball around it with the method I have explained. Alternate between your clubs and keep a note of how many balls you successfully curve around your obstruction. Remember that making the ball move right to left is not enough; it must start right of your obstruction and then draw back.

- 9 balls - Hit these balls working from longest to shortest iron, to warm down.
