The Grip Bar
Getting your golf clubs re gripped has never been easier. We have just installed our brand new in store re gripping station. Having the ability to re grip clubs in the golf shop rather than having to disappear to the workshop, will make it much easier for us to offer a 'while you wait' service for when you just have a couple of clubs needing done. For complete sets, we'll still need your clubs to be left with us, but our turnaround times will be reduced. The benefit of having the Grip Bar in store is that everyone will know that we re-grip clubs. Most people will realise that this is a service we offer, but you'd be amazed at just how many people ask us if we actually do re grip clubs. We have never overly promoted this service as we presumed everyone knew that we did re grips, but with the number of times we are asked the question, its time to make it very clear.
We are also about to start offering you the chance to buy your grips from us, so that you can fit them yourself, for those of you who like a bit of DIY. Buying grips for a DIY fitting will save you money, but remember it's not as easy as you may think to put a grip on straight!
Where should I be aiming?
One of the most common questions I get asked by students is, "am I aiming at my target?"
My answer is usually "no", but I very quickly add "and neither you should be!". You may well be asking, why don't you want your students aiming at their target?
Well, I actually have 2 or 3 reasons, but today I'll keep it to ball position (this is relevant for everyone who plays with a variable ball position (most players)).
The golf swing is a rounded movement and as such, at no point is the club head travelling in a straight line, neither on a vertical or horizontal plane. As such, the further back in the stance you play the ball, then the earlier in the circle and the more from the inside your swing path will be (to the right). The further forward the ball position is, then the later in the circle the ball will be struck and the more from the outside your swing path will be (to the left).
THEREFORE, I believe, your aim should be more to the right with longer clubs (more forward ball position) and more left with your shorter irons (more back ball position).
Exactly how much more to the right or left you aim will be dependant upon your own golf swing. A player with a strong 'over the top' transitional move, will be required to aim to the right of target with every club, more with the long clubs and less with the short. Players with a transitional drop to the inside will likely have to aim more to the left, so remember, if you play with a variable ball position, then your aim should also vary.
With the early success of our new Driving Range Membership scheme, we are now rewarding our loyal new members with our 'Members Referral Scheme'. For every new member that joins on the recommendation of an existing member, the member who referred them will receive a
£5 shop credit which can be spent in store.
We have found that our members are so happy with the value for money practice that they are getting, that they are actively recommending the membership scheme to their friends and colleagues and we'd like to reward them for this.
Driving range members you can hit up to 100 range balls every day of the week for one fixed price of just ONLY £19.99 per month, making this some of the best value golf in Perthshire. We don't all have the time to get out on the course as often as we'd like and a driving range membership will allow you to keep working on your game, even if you only have a half hour to spare.
So far in March, our top practiser is Mark Murray, who has already hit 900 balls this month, closely followed by February's top practiser Brian McDonald with 800.
If you'd like to join as a driving range member, just pop along to the golf centre and we'll have you signed up in under 5 minutes.
