Tigers New 'Old' Swing
This week sees Tiger Woods get back into action on the PGA Tour and I for one can't wait to see him play again. Tiger has ditched his previous coach Sean Foley and has enlisted the services of Chris Como as his 'Swing Consultant'. I think the terminology used is very important as Tiger is no longer looking for someone to re-construct his golf swing as has happened in the past, but is instead looking for someone to consult with him and give advice.
For me the most important thing about Chris Como's appointment is all the work he has done studying biomechanics. With all the troubles Tiger has had over the past decade with injuries, it's so important that anyone helping him, knows how the movements in his swing will affect his body. What I also really like is that both Chris Como AND Tiger want to get his swing back to something that resembles the swing that proved so successful in his earlier career. The biggest change is a simple one and something that could help many golfers.
Stand Up to the Ball
Over the past decade, Tigers forward body tilt has gotten more and more and as a result his swing has gotten steeper and steeper. This has led to many problems, many of which were actually caused by this posture.
When you set up to the ball, make sure that you stand tall with just a slight tilt forward from the waist. This posture will give you the freedom to fully turn and will put less pressure on your body.
