Get your game in shape We all have ups and downs with our game, sometimes our driving is great and short game rubbish, or we are holing everything but can’t seem to hit a green in regulation to take advantage. Every now and again things fall into place and a great score is put together, but wouldn’t you like this to happen more often? Over my 25+ years of coaching I have coached thousands of golfers, with no two players being the same. Even players with the same handicap, will be completely different types of player, with differing strengths and weaknesses. To help you improve some weak areas of your game or to enhance a strength, I am planning a series of ‘skill specific’ coaching sessions. These sessions will cover areas including, Putting Bunker play Shot shaping Chipping Driving On Course Play Each session will be limited to 6-8 players, so that you will receive a very personal service within a small group. My first session will be a putting class held at North Inch Golf Course on Thursday 26th July from 5.00pm – 6.30pm. The cost for the 90-minute session will be £30 per person and you can book your place by Clicking Here. If you have any questions, please email niall@noahsarkgolf.com
Digging it out of the Rough Playing golf from a nicely cut fairway is difficult enough, but what about when your ball is lying in deep rough? Today I’ll show you the technique that’ll get you back into play. The first thing you must do is select a club with enough loft to dig the ball out. If in doubt, always select more loft, and the rule goes, that the longer the grass, the more lofted a club is required. At address position, you will find that the ball nestles down on the long grass and you will not be able to get the clubhead right behind the ball, for fear of moving it. You should play the ball in the centre of your stance and favour your lead foot slightly with your weight. Make a steep back swing by picking your arms up much more than normal, keeping your weight on the lead side. You must now swing steeply down on the ball with force, no delicacy required! The steep downswing will reduce the amount of grass getting trapped between club head and ball. If you attempt to scoop the ball out of this lie, then your club head will get tangled up, and will end in failure. This shot requires a combination of technique and brute force and is a shot that not many players practice. A little practice and you will be ahead of the field.
