With just 4 weeks until the Ryder Cup gets under way, there is a buzz starting to build around Perthshire. This is also the last week for automatic selection for the European team and Scotland's Stephen Gallagher has a chance to make the team if he finishes in the top 2. A top 2 finish will allow him the leapfrog Graeme McDowell and claim the 9th automatic spot. If he doesn't make the team this week, the he will still have a chance as one of Paul McGinley's Wild Cards picks. Here's hoping Stephen makes it on merit and saves the captain a tough choice!
Many players believe custom fitting golf clubs is all about hitting the ball further. Now although that is one element of the fitting process, there are actually many players that the longest hitting club is not the best suited. Distance is certainly a very important aspect of golf, but very often we'll be looking for the club that gives us the tightest dispersion or the most consistent strike pattern. The weight of a golf club is very important and although most clubs are getting lighter and lighter in an effort to create more club head speed, there are many players for whom a slightly heavier club can produce significantly better performance.
Custom fitting, is all about finding the golf clubs that are going to help improve your game the most and increase your enjoyment of the game.

Take Control of your Pitching
To control the distance of your pitch shots you should keep your backswing and through swing equidistant, and simply lengthen or shorten the swing length to vary how far the ball flies. BUT even if you do this, but do not keep a consistent loft on your clubface at point of impact, then your ball will fly varying distances due to the increased or reduced loft. I see many players who really struggle with this, so today I'll explain how to maintain a consistent dynamic loft.
From your address position, you must pivot your shoulders back, keeping your arms moving in time with your body. From your back swing position, focus on moving your chest through impact, allowing it to "carry" the loft on the club face. What I mean by this, is that if your chest leads your movement through to finish position, then this will make it very difficult for your hands and wrists to take over, and alter the clubs loft at impact.
You need to feel that your chest brings your arms and club through to finish rather than you hands pushing or scooping to get at the ball. This requires some practice, but will make a huge difference to your pitching.

We've been having a great response to the Golf Centre's new updated website.
We've been receiving many more enquiries than we got through our old site, which is very promising.
