Enjoy the read. |
How has your season been going so far? It has not been the best start to a golf season due to the inconsistent weather and from our conversations with customers, this has prevented many players from getting fully into the swing of things. So, don’t worry if you are not feeling on top of your game…. you are not alone! It is however time to do something about it and we are on hand to help you achieve your seasons goals. Whether you are looking for some new equipment, would like to improve your game through lessons, or just want to spend some practice time on the range, we are here to help. Click here to book a lesson.
Pre Owned Clubs One of the best ways to kick start your season is to treat yourself to a new club. Along with the very latest gear from manufacturers such as Callaway, PING, TaylorMade and Titleist, we also carry the areas largest stock of pre-owned golf clubs. We have everything from drivers and irons, to fairways and wedges all which are available to try on our driving range. |
Ireland triumph as others impress Whilst many of you spent the Bank Holiday weekend basking in glorious sunshine – and we don’t blame you – 16 pairs battled it out in the second edition of GolfSixes. Split into four round-robin groups to begin with, only the top two pairs from each could proceed to the quarter-final stage, which saw both all-female teams (England Women and European Women) make it through to the final eight. Sadly, both female teams failed to advance to the semi-finals, with England Women losing out to eventual winners Ireland, represented by Gavin Moynihan (who has failed to make a single cut so far this season) and Paul Dunne. Ahead of golf’s unofficial fifth major taking place at TPC Sawgrass this weekend, Australia’s Jason Day has returned to world’s top 10 after a superb display at the Wells Fargo Championship. Taking place at Quail Hollow – the scene of last year’s PGA Championship – Day shot a gritty 69 on Sunday to finish two clear of his nearest challenger, admitting afterwards that he ‘had no idea where the ball was going, especially off the tee.’ For those of you wondering, yes Tiger Woods did play but he finished in a lowly tied 55th. |

Skechers shoe trade in Get £40 for your ragged old shoes, when you trade them in against a lovely new pair of Skechers Collegiate shoes. These shoes normally sell at £139.99, but by handing in an old pair of shoes you’ll pay just £99.99 |
Perfect for cooler rounds Yes, we've enjoyed a record-breaking Early May Bank Holiday weekend without a sweater in sight, but the reality is temperatures will soon get a little cooler over the coming days. To combat the chill whilst on the course, especially early mornings or late evenings, consider a ProQuip quilted windproof, which provide lightweight warmth whilst blocking out any wind. |

Play Better Golf with Noah’s Ark Golf Centre Professional Niall McGill Clubface is King In recent years through the use of golf ball tracking equipment, it has been proven that the clubface has around 85% control over the initial direction the golf ball will travel. As such clubface orientation throughout the swing has become much more important than previously believed and we must try to keep our clubface as neutral as possible throughout our swing if we want to keep the ball in play. The first move from the ball should be a simple rock of your shoulders, with your arms remaining the same distance from your body. This will put the club shaft into a position where it is pretty much parallel to your target line with the toe of your club pointing slightly in front of you. If you over rotate your forearms on the move away, then your clubface will open, and the club shaft will move too far around your body with your clubface pointing more skywards. This position will cause your golf ball to fly to the right or left…without you knowing which one is coming! With the correct control of your clubface, you will reduce any flipping of the wrists to square the clubface at impact which will see you hitting more fairways and greens. Practicing in front of a mirror is a great way to become comfortable with this movement. |

Bradley Neil backs new Golf Perthshire family golf initiative A rising star in the world of golf, who first teed off at the age of three, is helping celebrate a new campaign which will offer free golf sessions to under-18s. Bradley Neil, one of Scotland’s most promising young golfers, was joined by children from Crieff and St Dominic’s Primary Schools for a fun putting session at Crieff Golf Club to mark Golf Perthshire’s funding boost from the VisitScotland Growth Fund. The group has been awarded £10,725 to support a new family-focused tourism project.

The Golf Perthshire Family Golf initiative will provide a unique offering of free golf for under 18s, with a paying adult, along with the introduction of family tickets throughout the area, and is backed by local golf clubs. Golf Perthshire want to put the region on the map as the perfect destination to spend time golfing with the kids, sharing the beauty of the outdoors, creating lifelong memories and spending quality time together. And away from the golf course, the campaign will show why Perthshire is already one of the most popular areas in Scotland for family holidays, where you can soak up the history, enjoy stunning views as you walk or cycle through forests and woodlands or push yourself to the limit kayaking, white-water rafting or canyoning. Let’s face it: we all want to hit the ball further. Being able to hit longer drives gives you less club into the green, making everything that little bit easier. There are many ways you can try and generate more power during your swing, and nearly all of them start from the ground up. |
Trust your footwear Despite his small frame, tour star Rickie Fowler is renowned for his power. As you can see in the three images above, he pushes off from his right foot through impact and relies on great grip and stability to ensure the power his body is creating doesn’t come at the cost of control. Having a strong base is something we should all aspire for. The FootJoy Tour-S can help you do this thanks to its PowerStrap that enhances support, plus its nine cleats per foot that offer maximum stability across a range of terrains. |
