Play Better Golf with Noah’s Ark Golf Centre Professional Niall McGill No Sway Golf is a difficult enough game without moving parts of our body that don’t need to. Golf is a game where LESS really is MORE. The less moving parts in our golf swings then the more consistent we will be. Today, we are going to look at the backswing from face on view. From address position it is important that you pivot your shoulders around your spine angle. When you do this, your head will remain still with almost no movement to your trail side. Try to practice this movement whilst standing face on to a mirror so that you can see how still your head remains. You may have the feeling that your lead shoulder is moving more downward than across and this is to be expected. Many players to create more power, try to over rotate their shoulders but this often produces a lateral sway to the trail side making it very difficult for you to return to the ball with any consistency. When done correctly you will find that your backswing feels a little shorter and more restricted. This is a good sign and will not reduce power, but instead increase both accuracy and consistency |
