Tiger's back Tiger Woods is back in action this week at the Farmers Insurance Open, played at one of his all-time favourite tracks, Torrey Pines. His record around that course alone is better than many PGA Tour players career record. Tiger has won an amazing 7 times round Torrey Pines, 6x Farmer Insurance Opens and the 2008 US Open. So is this the first real test for Tiger? Probably not, but to be fair to him, I’d also plan to play my first proper tournament back around a golf course that I had a great history on. Whatever happens and however he plays, TV viewing figures will be through the roof this week, especially if he makes the cut and is in contention at the weekend. All in all, it should be a great weekend of golf. It is also a big week for Spaniard John Rahm, who could with a win at the Farmers, jump Dustin Johnson and take the World #1 spot. The Americans are not happy about this, as they believe their man Johnson and the former number 2 Jordan Spieth should not be at risk from the on-form Rahm. Let’s hope Rahm does it, just to stick one up the Yanks!! |
