It was a fantastic Open Championship and Rory McIlroy thoroughly deserved the win. Before play started on Sunday, I though that it might be a bit boring with Rory remaining too far ahead of the chasing pack, but both Garcia and my pick Ricky Fowler played some great golf and did everything that was asked of them, getting within a couple of shots at one point. Rory just played some really solid golf and didn't make any silly mistakes. Royal Liverpool proved once again that it's a fantastic venue and thoroughly deserves to be back on the Open rota. I now can't wait for St Andrews next year!
ClubGolf Camp
Today's the final day of our 5 day ClubGolf camp. We've had a great group here this week under the watchful eye of Andrew McHardy. They've been learning al about golf and also the Ryder Cup, which has been the theme of this weeks coaching. We love introducing new players to the game and hopefully that's another 10 who will love the game like we do.ClubGolf Camp
Well done to Stewart Robertson who won our Open Championship competition on Facebook. We've started a weekly competition over on our Facebook page, so make sure that you follow our postings by 'liking' our page. If you click here the link will take you to our page.
Our Mini Golf Course is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. I can't believe it's been so long since we constructed the course, but as they say 'time flies'. Over the next few weeks, we're planning some landscaping work, with hundreds of new plants and around 20 tons of stone chips being added. We are also in the process of having a new Mini Golf logo designed and a new website specifically for Noah's Ark Mini Golf. We have also set up its own Facebook page which you can like by clicking here.

As you will have likely witnessed at last weeks Open Championship, hitting the fairway from the tee is often more important than hitting the ball a long way. As such we witnessed the best players in the world leaving driver in the bag and reaching for the long iron or hybrid. For those of us that don't hit the ball over 300 yards off the tee, then hitting the fairway is even more important, so why do we keep reaching for the driver on every hole?
Today I'm going to show you how to maximise your distance off the tee whilst using a hybrid club. At address you should position the ball a bit further back in your stance and aim your body slightly right of target, which will promote a low and drawing ball flight. As you swing back, make sure that your chest remains over the ball and then focus on driving your body towards your target as you swing down. If you don't transfer your weight forward from the top of your backswing, then you will get trapped on your back foot and this will cause you to balloon your tee shots and lose distance.
Keep the image of hitting low draws in your head and watch your ball chase its way up the fairway.
