Practice with purpose
As the new season is getting under way it is important that your practice time is used as efficiently as possible. Standing beating balls on the range with no purpose is not going to get you the best results.
It is important when you practice, that you make every single ball count and do not simply stand and hit without a purpose.
Below is a practice plan I want you to work on, where you will be transitioning between clubs through the bag. On the golf course, you never get the chance to hit balls with the same club one after another and today's plan will help make your practice more realistic.
Firstly take a few minutes to warm up, by stretching and making some practice swings without a ball.
This practice plan is based upon a basket of 50 balls.
- 5 balls - Using your wedge hit these balls towards a target to complete your warm up.
- Play 18 holes (Approx. 40 balls)
Imagine playing 18 holes on any chosen course. Play all the shots greater than 30yards, that you would have to play based on the result of your previous shot i.e. if you slice a drive to the right, then play the recovery shot you would have to play from where the ball would have landed, followed by your wedge shot into the green. To make this drill most effective, you must give complete focus to every shot, go through your pre-shot routine, and be very target orientated.
- 5 balls - Using your wedge hit these balls towards a target to warm down.
This is a great session for helping you practice playing 'Golf' and not just the art of hitting a ball.

How to fade the golf ball The fade can be a useful shot whether you need to move the golf ball around an obstruction, or want a soft-landing approach shot into a green. The fade requires a couple of adjustments to your set up and in the video I'll talk you through everything that you need to do to start hitting consistent, soft landing fade shots.

Don't play enough to justify a season ticket?
Not everyone players enough golf to justify taking out an annual season ticket. For golfers in this situation there is normally no other option but to pay a full green fee each time that you play.
We fully understand this situation and have introduced a 10 round green fee ticket this year to help the occasional golfer get the best value for money.
An Adult 10 round ticket costs £150 and a senior 10 round ticket £120, saving you up to £50.
