It’s Ryder Cup Time!
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, but in just a couple of days’ time the 2016 Ryder Cup will be kicking off at Hazeltine!
On paper, the USA look to be favourites this time round, but as we all know the book goes out the window when it all kicks off and we have a great record when we go into the Ryder Cup as under dogs!
Not that we should be the under dogs however, with honours even for the 2016 Major Championships. Masters Champion Danny Willet and Open Champion Henrik Stenson make up a strong part of Team Europe.
I do however feel for the first time in several Ryder Cups, that we are going to struggle to beat Team USA. They seem very up for this year’s event and ar ein desperate need of a win.
Whatever the odds and whatever the result, it’s going to be a fantastic 3 days of golf once again!
To mark the event, we thought it would be only right to hold a flash 3-Day Ryder Cup Sale.
So from Friday through Sunday, we will have some fantastic ‘not to be missed’ offers in store. A wee sample of which are below.

Play Better Golf
Splash it out The greenside bunker shot is a pretty difficult shot and one that requires practice to become competent and more importantly confident.
At address you should aim your body left of your target with the ball towards the front of your stance making it easier to strike the sand before the ball. You should also slightly open the clubface, which will allow the bounce on the sole of the club head to do its job.
You should now make a relatively full backswing bearing in mind that you are not going to actually strike the ball and therefore you will need a good bit more momentum to carry the ball out of the bunker than if you were playing from grass.
When you swing down you should concentrate on trying to strike the sand about 5–6cm before the ball and ensure that you swing through to at least chest high as this will help to propel your ball towards the pin.
Remember that the greenside bunker shot is the only time in golf that you are not trying to hit the ball but instead are relying on the explosion of the sand to make the ball fly out of the bunker. Make sure you create enough momentum with your swing to make this happen.
When done correctly, you will feel that your hands have very little control of the cub and this will allow your shoulders to make the swing.

northinchgolf@pkc.gov.uk Volunteer Days We are planning to hold a number of volunteer days at the golf course as we head towards the latter part of the season.
We are keen to get a number of the autumn maintenance tasks completed and as the leaves start to drop from the trees, we are keen to keep these under control this year.
We now have 4 blower packs which will help us control much of the leave situation and will prevent much of the damage that has been caused in previous years when leaves have lain on the grass for too long.
We will be in touch shortly with upcoming dates for the volunteer days.
