What a great few weeks we have had watching the Olympics from Rio. Team GB had a fantastic performance and their medal haul goes to show that UK sport is in a great place at the moment and the next generation of elite athletes will most certainly be inspired to achieve greatness following Rio.
There were some great photographs shown on TV, everyone must have seen the photo of a 13year Joe Schooling posing with his idol, Michael Phelps. Eight years on from this photo and it was 21 year old Schooling who beat Phelps the 100m butterfly gold medal.
These are the stories that inspire and it's seeing these photos that helps make people believe that they can go on and do great things in their sport.
With the summer holiday's now officially over and the kids all back to school, it's time to knuckle down and get some serious golf played as we head into September.
With the Ryder Cup coming up in just a few weeks, there is plenty to look forward to and with most golf courses being in tip top shape at the moment, there's no better time to get out for a game.
Over the past 15 years we have introduced thousands of children to the game of golf through our junior golf academy coaching. Golf is a great sport to get into as a youngster and is a sport that you can play for your whole life.
Our classes run on a Saturday morning and we have 2 age categories, 5-10yrs and 8-14years. The younger group runs from 10am-11am, with the older group from 11am to 12noon.
We have a slight crossover to allow for varying ability and experience.
PGA Professional Fraser Cramb runs the academy and will help your budding young golfer get to grips with the game of golf through fun and enjoyable coaching.
The cost for a 4 week block of coaching is £28, or you can pay weekly at £8 per session. For those who sign up for the 4 weeks, you be given a junior range card which allows you to hit a FREE basket of 50 range balls every day between sessions, so that you can practice all that you have learned.
To sign up, just give us a call on 01738 440678 or email info@noahsarkgolf.com
There are a couple of golf club product launches in the pipeline, most notably Callaway's new XR Steelhead irons which are due to arrive in store 1st September.
I was lucky enough to see these a couple of weeks ago and they are absolutely stunning and great to hit.
With a slightly thinner top edge line, they are very pleasing to the eye, but still have plenty of forgiveness in the sole.
XR Steel head irons will be available for trial and for custom fitting early September.

Transfer your weight and hit longer shots!
If you would like to gain a few extra yards, then today's video will help you do just that.
Many players tend to swish at the ball with their arms and hands from the top of the backswing and fail to get their body weight transferring correctly onto their lead foot as they swing through.
I'm going to show you a great little drill that will help your weight transfer correctly and generate too much appreciated extra power.

Play Better Golf
Stop the Top
Are you prone to thinning the ball, or even hitting the odd top?
If so, then read on!
When you see a good player strike an iron shot, they make a distinctively solid noise produced by the correct ball to turf contact. They do this by contacting the ball before the turf when the club is still travelling on its down swing.
The key to good ball striking is about controlling the low point of your swing and not the actual angle of attack. The more you can move the low point of your swing arc to the target side of the golf ball then the more your golf ball will be struck on the downswing BEFORE the club head reaches the ground. This controlling of the swings low point will naturally create the downward attack angle and crisp strike that we desire.
When you reach the top of your backswing, you should focus on driving your body towards your target, so that most of your weight is on your front foot as you strike the ball.
Make sure that you do not hang back in an effort to assist the ball into the air, this action is what causes your thins and tops.
Try making practice swings where you strike the turf to the target side of where your imaginary golf ball would lie. To be able to do so, you will have to drive your body weight correctly.
With a bit of practice, there should be no more topping!

Autumn Maintenance Works We are planning to start the Autumn greens maintenance work on
Monday, 12 September and this work will go on until
Friday, 16 September.
During this time the golf course will remain open, but whichever green is being worked on will be played to a temporary green, so that the greens staff can get on with their work.
We will be undertaking the following works to the greens;
- Verti-Draining
- Scarifying
- Over seeding
- Top dressing
- Fertilising
Although there will be a bit of disruption whilst the works take place, this will really benefit the greens in the longer term.
