4 Majors… 4 first time Champions
There is such strength in depth on the US and European Tours that they have thrown up 4 first time winners at this year's Major Championships.
With Danny Willet at the Masters, Dustin Johnston US Open, Henrik Stenson Open Championship and now Jimmy Walker at the USPGA, 2016 has been a good year for the first timers.
The strength in depth is displayed even more when you consider that Jimmy Walker was a wire to wire winner, something that not many Major Champions have done. Walker played some amazing golf and managed to stave off the pack who were chasing him including world #1 Jason Day.
I think we have a great few years of Majors ahead of us and I for one can't wait…
Nike is leaving the golf equipment market!
There are some big decisions to be made by some of the world's top golfers including world #4 Rory McIlroy. Nike entered the golf equipment market in 1998 following Tiger Wood's first amazing year on tour in 1997.
This move by Nike is a big shock to the golf industry, but not unexpected I believe. Although the clothing and shoes sell well, there clubs have a very small market share.
It will be interesting to see how all the Nike Tour players across all the world tours adapt to this on mass change. As so many of us are aware, it's not always that easy to change equipment without a dip in performance.
Long Drive Winner
Well done to Martin Rogalski who won last weekend's Long Drive challenge at Noah's Ark. Into a pretty stiff wind, Martin hit it 317 yards which made him a comfortable winner on the day.
Martin can be seen with his prize of an Under Armour Polo shirt.

Practice with Purpose
If you want to get the best out of your practice sessions, then you really need to start giving more purpose to your sessions.
Too many players simply walk onto the range and start blasting away, which unfortunately is not really going to help you improve by much.
By setting yourself targets and goals within each session and by recording the results, you will make much more improvement to your game.
In this week's video, I'll show you a great practice game that will help improve your approach play.

Shape your shots - The High Fade
This week I'm going to show you how to hit a controlled high fade with your iron shots. There has been a huge change over the past few years in the understanding of what creates the various ball flights in golf.
It was previously believed that to hit a fade, you should aim your clubface where you want the ball to finish (the pin), and aim your body and swing where you want the ball to start (to the left of target). This is now known to be wrong, and although your ball would fade, it would start straight and then fade away from your target.
To hit a fade that finished on target, your clubface must aim left (where you want ball to start), then you must make sure that you swing more to the left than the face points, this will create the curve. We now understand that the clubface controls initial direction of the ball, and the swing path creates the curve, which is the opposite of our previous beliefs.
To play this shot, position the ball a bit further forward in your stance, aim your body to the left and make sure that you make quite an upright feeling backswing and finish with a high follow though. This will set you up to attack the ball from the correct angles to hit the left to right fade ball flight.
