'Golf Memories' at Noah's Ark 

We have recently become involved with a fantastic initiative in conjunction with Perth and Kinross Council, North Inch Golf Course and Alzheimer Scotland. The golf memories group started in May of last year meeting at Bells Sports Centre and using the putting green at North Inch. Although quite popular, it was hindered at times with the Scottish 'Summer' weather, which put paid to the group getting out and using the putting green. 

The Golf Memories Group has been set up to enable people to come together, in order to share past memories of their Golf, discuss favourite players and events, and perhaps make friends.

We know that remaining involved with interests and hobbies you have had all your life helps your memory and your wellbeing. We hope this group will be beneficial to those who have dementia and also helpful to those who want to be part of a community that is keen to be inclusive. 

We now have around 10 people plus volunteer helpers attending each week and sessions will run every Monday throughout May from 10.30am until 12 noon.

Bunker Practice 

We've had Ronnie out this week, tidying up and getting our practice bunker back in play. 

This bunker is available for play by our range members and can made available by special request for non-members who would like to work on their bunker play.

Play Better Golf - The Power Move

Is your ball striking inconsistent and your ball flight weak? 

If so, then there is a strong chance that you are not transferring your weight efficiently on your downswing. Today I'll show you a simple movement which will help you hit the ball further without making any significant change to your swing. 

The key is to make sure that you initiate your downswing with the transference of your weight forwards toward your target. I see so many amateur golfers who keep too much weight on their back foot on the downswing, losing out on extra distance and control. From now on when you reach the top of your backswing let's make a real effort to start your downswing by driving your weight forward leading with your hips, so that by the time you're half way down, your weight is predominantly onto your front foot. 

This in turn will make it much easier for you to follow through to a complete finish as your body will not block this movement. If you do not transfer your weight as you start your downswing then you'll get stuck on your back foot causing your shoulders to early rotate, producing an outside in swing path, losing both power & distance. 

When you first try this weight shift movement you may find yourself toppling forwards slightly at the end of your swing (a good sign!), but with a little practice your balance will improve.

Our new 9 hole Footgolf course opens this Saturday 14, May at 2.30pm, with the last starting time of 5pm. It's a great fun sport for all the family regardless of your football or golfing ability.

If you fancy a quick game of golf during your lunch hour, then corm and play our 6 hole short course. With holes ranging from 99 to 230 yards, it only takes 30-40 minutes to play a round. It's great value too at just £3.50 for a round.
