As the new golf season is getting under way, this is the perfect time to take advantage of a golf lesson to improve your game. Club Gapping Session - Learn how far you hit each club in your bag with the help of Flightscope radar technology. Spend 45 minutes with one of our team measuring the distances of all your clubs. You will go away with a laminated card containing all your carry distances, which is a great help to improve your game. 

Wedge Refurbishment - Give your wedges a little TLC and watch their performance go through the roof. Over time, the grooves on your wedges begin to wear, which results in loss of performance. For just £10 per club, we will re-groove your wedge and then sand blast the face, leaving you a lovely new surface with which to strike the ball. This work will really help increase your spin rate and control of the ball. 

Iron Loft and Lie - Are your irons set up correctly for your swing type? Do you know that the wrong lie angle on a set of irons can have a huge effect on the direction your golf ball will fly. Come and spend time with one of our custom fitting team, where we will check you lie angle and make any adjustments required.

Play Better Golf 

The Perfect Ending 

Completing your follow through every single time you swing a golf club will make you a better golfer! In today's column I will explain why and give you a couple of pointers to help you on your way. 

Once you have completed your backswing, concentrate on turning your hips & navel to your target as you transfer your weight to your front foot. When you turn your body correctly through impact you will end in a position where the club shaft is around behind your head and the sole of your right shoe points directly away from the target, with your weight fully onto your left side. 

You should always hold your finish after every swing and check this position. By doing so, you will improve your balance as it will only be possible to hold this position when balanced. If you are balanced at the end of your swing, then you were more likely to have been in balance when you hit the ball. 

The most common follow through fault I see is when a player swings down too fast with the hands from the top of the backswing resulting in their weight remaining on the back foot producing a restricted and short follow through. 

Completing your follow through and holding the position is a very simple and effective way of improving your game.


  

Golf Course Maintenance Update  

That's the greens all spiked and hopefully by the time you are reading this, they have also been top dressed and fertilised. We are really pleased with how the greens are playing, so early in the season. We plan to continue with our regular spiking and dressing programme this season and you should really see the benefit of this.

Entries are now open for the Perth City Championship events and the dates will be as follows. 

- Ladies Open - Friday, 1 July 
- Mixed Open - Sunday, 28 August 
- Hay Robertson - Saturday, 10 September 
- Junior Open - Sunday, 11 September
