The Masters 2016
With this week's Masters Championship officially starting the 2016 golf season, we have decided to mark this event with some special offers available from Friday till Sunday. Read on a bit further below, to see some of the promotions on offer.
Who is going to win?
Well I'm backing Jason Day! The way he plays the Augusta National golf course, he just has to win a Masters Championship sometime soon. He is on a bit of a winning streak and although that does not always help in the run up to a Major, I believe his game is just so good that he will go on to win the championship. My other pick is Rickie Fowler, who has been slightly quieter of late, but is a player who has all the shots to play this magnificent course and will most definitely at some point win his first Major.
Perthshire Miniature Golf Championship Sunday, 29 May
Fancy your chances of becoming Perthshire's top putter?
On Sunday, 29 May we will be holding Perthshire's first Miniature Golf Championship. You can test your skills on the green against players from all over the county. With various categories of competition for Gent's, Ladies, juniors and seniors, we expect this to be a very popular event.
The Championship will be played over 2 rounds of our Mini Golf putting course, with the leading score in each category winning. The great thing about Mini Golf putting is that you don't have to be a golfer to play and you often find that the non-golfers are actually great putters!
Entry is just £5 per person and this includes unlimited free practice on the putting course the day before the event (Saturday 28th May)

The lob shot
With the Masters Championship now in full flow, you will see the world's best players having their short games put to the test with some of the most difficult chip shots imaginable.
Today I'll show you how to play the short green side lob shot which you will see being played around the ever so tricky Augusta National course in an attempt to get the ball somewhere near the pin.
Firstly, address the ball with your feet relatively close together, your weight favouring your front side 60:40 and the ball positioned opposite your front heel, which should be slightly fanned open. Your grip pressure should be light and your body aligned a little left of target with your clubface open so as to increase loft and bring the clubs bounce into play.
The key to playing an effective short lob shot is to slide the club under the ball, allowing the bounce on the sole of the club to strike the turf and prevent the leading edge digging into the ground. You must keep your weight firmly on your front foot, resisting the temptation to lean back and scoop the ball into the air. The overall swing feel should be that of a more relaxed arm swing.
The result of this action will be a ball that floats high in the air and lands very softly.
This shot does require a bit of practice, but can really help get you out of trouble when you miss a green.
Save time with 'Ready Golf' at North Inch
As the new season gets under way, at North Inch Golf Course we understand the time pressures that many of us are under. Taking 4 or more hours to play a round can be off putting and it eats up an awful lot of our free time.
For 2016, we are promoting 'Ready Golf' which we believe will really help speed up play and allow you to play 18 holes in around 3 hours. Ready Golf is just as it sounds, there are no gimmicks. The essence of Ready Golf is that you play your ball when you are ready (as long as it's safe to do so). Ready golf does not take into account the out dated rule that the player furthest away must play first. We believe this just slows everything down.
Below are the guidelines for playing 'Ready Golf' at North Inch.
1. Play your shot as soon as you are 'ready' and it's safe to do so (no honour system)
2. Shorter hitters to drive first.
3. One practice swing maximum.
4. Line up putts from behind ball only.
5. Continue putting until you hole out.
6. Leave your golf bag between the green and next tee.
For social golf, we recommend adding the following,
1. If a ball goes out of bounds or in a water hazard, drop a ball at point of entry and add one stroke.
2. No penalty shot for striking an un attended flag pin.
3. 3-minute maximum searching for lost ball.
4. 3 putts maximum on any green.
5. Maximum double par score on any hole, then pick up.
6. 2 shots maximum from any bunker then throw it out!
7. Have fun and enjoy your golf!!
